About Arun Kumar
I am Arun Kumar, and I’ve been passionate about chess for as long as I can remember. What started as a casual interest quickly grew into a deep appreciation for the game’s complexity, discipline, and beauty. Over the years, chess has taught me valuable life skills—patience, critical thinking, and the ability to stay calm under pressure—and I’m passionate about passing those lessons on to others. Teaching chess is more than just a job for me—it's a way to inspire and empower students. I love seeing the moment a concept "clicks," or when a student starts to think a few moves ahead for the first time. Every learner brings their own unique perspective to the board, and I truly enjoy helping each one unlock their potential. Whether you're playing for fun, aiming to compete, or just want to sharpen your mind, I’m here to guide and support you on your chess journey.

As a dedicated tutor, I focus on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. My approach is student-centred and adaptable—every learner is unique, so I tailor my methods to suit individual needs, whether that involves breaking down complex topics into manageable steps, using real-life examples, or reinforcing concepts through guided practice.
I use a combination of interactive discussions, problem-solving exercises, and regular feedback to ensure students not only understand the material but also develop the skills to apply their knowledge independently. I believe in building a strong foundation and gradually increasing the complexity to challenge students at the right pace.
Lessons typically run for about 40 minutes, though this can be adjusted depending on the student’s needs and attention span.
My lessons are suitable for learners of all ages, but I primarily work with secondary school students, college-level learners, and adult learners looking to refresh or enhance their knowledge.
