About Darcy

I have taught chess for seven years, working with players ranging from complete beginners to rated tournament competitors. About the lesson

We begin with opening principles, focusing on how to control the board early, develop pieces efficiently, and avoid common pitfalls. You’ll learn multiple opening systems, enabling you to approach games with confidence and smoothly transition into strong mid-game positions.

Our training then moves to tactical awareness and strategic depth. Through puzzle-solving, annotated master games, and guided practice, you’ll improve your calculation skills, spot tactical opportunities, and understand how to create threats while defending against your opponent’s plans effectively.

Finally, we dedicate time to endgame mastery. You’ll study fundamental checkmating patterns, pawn promotions, and positional play in simplified positions. This will help you convert advantages into wins and maintain composure under time pressure or in critical tournament scenarios.
