About Pooja

Hello! I am a certified British Columbia educator holding a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), and an ECEA certification, with over 8 years of teaching experience.
Having taught in both classrooms and one-on-one settings, I specialize in early learning and elementary literacy. I provide a warm, encouraging, and structured environment where children build confidence, develop essential skills, and learn happily without stress.

About the lesson

I offer engaging, personalized English and early literacy lessons for Kindergarten and Elementary learners. Aligned with the BC curriculum, each session is tailored to build strong foundations and genuine reading joy.
What We Focus On:
Phonics & Early Reading: Letter sounds, sound blending, rhyming, and sight words through fun games and stories.
Writing & Fine Motor Skills: Pencil grip, letter tracing, handwriting, and early sentence building.
Comprehension and vocabulary are developed through interactive read-aloud sessions, the cultivation of speaking confidence, and an improved understanding of stories.
My Approach:
Interactive & Multi-Sensory: Hands-on flashcards, games, and guided reading—no boring lectures.
Patient & Supportive: Gradual practice ("I do, We do, You do") so students feel safe to make mistakes.
Parent Updates: Clear communication on weekly progress and milestones.
The first introductory session is complimentary to assess your child’s goals and create a custom learning plan.

"My standard rate is $30/hr for lessons at my home or online. For travel to the student's home, an additional $5–$10 fee applies depending on distance. The first session is free so we can meet and assess your child's learning goals!"
