About Emily
I am a certified special education teacher with training across mild, moderate, and severe/profound disabilities, with a strong academic focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders. I work with learners of all ages and have experience supporting students with a wide range of academic, communication, and learning needs.
Special education is not just my profession, it is something I am deeply passionate about. I value building meaningful, respectful relationships with my students and taking the time to understand them as individuals. I believe learning is most effective when students feel supported, understood, and confident in their abilities.
My teaching style is patient, structured, and flexible. I focus on individualized instruction that meets students where they are, celebrates progress, and adapts to each learner’s strengths and needs. Whether a student requires foundational skill-building, ongoing academic support, or a more personalized approach to learning, I am committed to helping them grow at their own pace.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy sewing and working on creative projects, which helps me recharge and stay inspired. I also spend a lot of my free time with my cats, who are a constant source of comfort and joy. I believe creativity, patience, and balance outside the classroom play an important role in showing up fully for my students.

I believe effective learning starts with meeting students exactly where they are, not where a checklist says they should be. My approach prioritizes progress over perfection, focusing on growth, confidence, and meaningful skill development rather than pressure or unrealistic expectations. Every learner brings unique strengths, needs, and experiences to the table, and my goal is to understand those individual differences so instruction can truly work for them.
I chose special education because I genuinely love this profession and the relationships that come with it. I value building strong, respectful connections with my students and taking the time to learn how they think, communicate, and learn best. Whether a student needs structured academic support, skill building, or encouragement to trust their abilities, I strive to create a supportive environment where learning feels safe, purposeful, and achievable. My goal is not just short-term success, but long-term growth that helps students feel capable and empowered as learners.
