About Renee
My name is Renée Mercurio. From a young age learning languages and delving into the target language’s history, music, food and literature have been my passion. Throughout my life I have traveled extensively in the Francophone world and parts of the Hispanic world. I was a French Literature major at the University of New Hampshire and studied at the Université de Bourgogne my junior year of college. I am a certified K-12 French teacher in the State of Ohio with over ten years of experience teaching French and Spanish.

Differentiation is a perfect fit for the world language classroom. There are many topics and manners in which all of the components of the 5 C’s can be used to teach a verb tense or a vocabulary word in a much more relatable way. We can modify our lessons to be more interesting and relevant to our students. When teaching about daily routines to a group of soccer enthusiasts we can now show a video diary of a team member of the national soccer team, we can teach the imperfect tense and the end of French rule in Algeria through the song “La France de Mon Enfance” by Enrico Macias. Students can visit a Senegalese news website and read articles of their choosing to improve reading comprehension at an appropriate reading level and topic that is of interest.

Details
I charge $30 for half hour and $50 an hour.
For introductory courses I offer three half hour sessions for $75 a week and 2 half hour sessions for $60 a week.
Group sessions vary in price.
