About Ben
I have done teaching and work in a number of different areas, and I think learning one subject helps become a better teacher in other subjects that seem unrelated at first, but then you see how different subjects are alike in many ways. For example, you may think that English and history do not need math skills, and the other way around. Learning all these subjects the best you can means the student should learn how your math equation has history behind it, or how business and history can be understood with knowing some math (even though you do not feel like learning math things). But knowing both sides makes learning more interesting.

I am currently working as a Finance Information Technology professional and I have had past classroom experience teaching and tutoring for kids and adults. No matter what the age group, learning needs to be fun and the students in class and employee professionals I have done consulting and training with need to have structure in their lesson planning and active student engagement. I try to make what I teach relevant to their daily lives. I have raised two sons through high schools in Maryland, involving help with online learning, so I know the challenges and distractions that need to be attended. I have worked with many high-tech learning-related tools that help understanding and enjoy finding more, such as Khan Academy. Before learning to teach math and business I was a history and liberal arts student. When I taught math I learned how math and history and other arts developed together, so I love to teach social studies also. Combining both ends helps gain interest and understanding. Personally, I would try to not just review homework and assignments, but to learn by focusing on better specific topics and skills. From there we can design assignments for learning reinforcement.
