About Estair
I studied design for five years before progressing into professional practice, and I now work as a Midweight Design Researcher in London, specialising in health, technology and user-centred design.
My academic background combined with industry experience allows me to bridge the gap between school-level Design Technology and what universities are actually looking for. I understand assessment criteria, portfolio expectations, and how to structure design work in a way that demonstrates both creativity and critical thinking.
I want to teach because I remember how overwhelming the transition from school to university can feel. My aim is not only to improve grades, but to help students think like designers — to develop independent thinking, strong visual communication skills, and a portfolio that truly reflects their potential.

My lessons are structured, interactive and tailored to each student’s specific goals. Before we begin, I work with the student to identify clear objectives. Whether that’s improving exam performance, strengthening portfolio work, developing sketching and technical drawing skills, or preparing for university applications and interviews.
Each session lasts up to 1.5 hours and is discussion-led, with focused tasks and design challenges built around predetermined objectives. I emphasise understanding the design process, not just producing outcomes. Students learn how to approach a design brief properly, structure research, apply anthropometrics and ergonomics, develop ideas through sketching, and present work clearly and confidently.
For example, I guide students through exercises such as analysing and writing strong design briefs, building structured, deadline-driven portfolios with clear documentation and reflection. I encourage sketchbook exploration, model-making, annotation, and critical thinking — mirroring how design is taught at university level.
I have previously supported a student in securing a place on an Interior Design programme at Middlesex University, assisting with exam knowledge, portfolio development and interview preparation. I hold an IB Diploma with HL Design Technology and am a BA Product & Industrial Design graduate from Central Saint Martins, with professional experience in design research and industry practice.
Lessons are suitable for IGCSE and IB Design Technology students, as well as those preparing portfolios for university-level design courses (product, interior, industrial, or related fields).
