About Heesoo
Heesoo Kim is a South Korean - Australian cellist from the Gold Coast. Following her passion for music, she moved to Paris at the age of 15 after being accepted at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris as the youngest student and later at the Regional Conservatorium in Paris where she was able to broaden her knowledge as a determined student. Her teachers were Genevieve Sommer-Teulieres, a student of André Navarra and Hélène Dautry, a student of Maurice Gendron.
Eager to learn, Heesoo has participated and have won several competitions domestically and internationally including Hong Kong, Italy, France and Australia She has had the opportunity to play with orchestras including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra after winning the Young Instrumentalist prize at the age of 14 and with the Brescia Orchestra in Italy after being selected as a soloist at the Talent Music Summer festival in 2019.
Her recent academic achievements include the Artist Diploma of Performance with high distinctions from Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris and a Diploma of Musical Studies from the Regional Conservatorium in Paris. She is currently studying with Georg Pedersen at the Sydney Conservatorium

My teaching focuses on inspiring the student to have a deep and meaningful understanding of music. I concentrate on building a solid technique for the student that incorporates general knowledge and theory. My curriculum is student-based, individualistic and caters towards the student’s goals and progress.
