About Grant
I began playing both cello and piano at the age of 11, and decided to pursue music professionally at the age of 16. As such, I did not have a proper teacher until high school and had to learn all of the fundamental principals of music from scratch at a relatively late age. This gives me insights into the learning process that is quite unique as I was forced to improve quite rapidly and had to find the quickest path to doing so. My main goal in my career is to play in a professional orchestra, which is one of the most competitive fields in the entire job market. I still consider myself a student of music today as I pursue that path, and I am passionate about passing down the knowledge left to me by my teachers on the next generation of cellists.

I can teach students of all ages, abilities, and goals! My teaching methodology is aligned with that of Janos Starker, and I am an advocate for efficiency and ease at the instrument. The fastest pathway towards improvement is relaxation and reduction in tension along with understanding of key musical principles. I can offer students a well-rounded approach to playing the cello, which includes the basics (scales, bow exercises, etudes) along with learning fun repertoire of the students' choice.
