As a passionate drama educator with a background in Live Performance (cum laude) and postgraduate studies in education, I believe in a dynamic, student-centered approach to learning. My lessons go beyond textbook theory, incorporating interactive activities, creative exploration, and reflective discussions to ensure a deep understanding of drama as both an academic and practical discipline.
What makes my teaching unique is my emphasis on experiential learning—students don’t just study drama; they embody it through movement, voice work, improvisation, and scene study. I also incorporate critical thinking and self-expression, helping students connect drama to real-world themes and personal experiences.
Languages
I am proficient in English and Afrikaans and can comfortably teach in both languages.
What to Expect from a Lesson
Each lesson is tailored to the student’s needs and learning style. A typical session might include:
- Physical and vocal warm-ups to develop stage presence and confidence.
- Theoretical exploration of drama concepts, including structure, themes, and character analysis.
- Practical application, such as monologue/scene work, improvisation, or movement exercises.
- Feedback and reflection, where students learn to critique performances constructively and build confidence in their abilities.
I also integrate media, such as film clips or recorded performances, to deepen understanding.
