About Arthur-David
Hello! I'm Arthur-David Hall. I'm a 24-year old student, originally from Vancouver, BC, and now living in Vienna, Austria.
In 2019 I moved here to pursue my career as a musician. When I moved here, I spoke zero German; however, in only six months I completed my B1, and only a few months after that (during Covid), I completed my B2.
These days, nearly my entire life is in German. I have friends, who only speak German, my girlfirend is Austrian (lots of practice at home and with her parents) and I also have a job, in which I am required to speak the language every single day.
Currently, I have a few German students studying under me, but now I wish to expand my student base a little more and teach as many people as possible.
Throughout my years at Uni, I served as a TA, teaching the younger students, and also tutored my colleagues on the current material, as I had a habit of reading ahead.
I'm a very laidback guy, who just really loves to discuss the intricacies of the things I love, and hope that others also find them just as interesting.

So you've decided to start learning German. Maybe it's for school, maybe it's for fun, or maybe (like I did) you're planning on moving to a German-speaking country for something, and want to have an advantage when you get there.
I moved to Vienna in 2019 with very little knowledge of the German language, aside from pronunciation (music degree). But now, after a few years, I can easily say that I speak German with a good degree of fluency.
I will say this before we get started: Apps like Duolingo or Babbel (also Pimsleur and Busuu etc) are not worth the money, or time investment.
In my opinion, the only way to really learn a language, is by practice. Good ol' fashioned rote learning is the way we all learned to speak our first language, and how you'll learn to speak a new one.
I will not only teach you the grammar and the vocabulary needed to actually have conversations in German, but I'll also give you the tips and tricks necessary to be able to teach yourself the language.
I will provide you with worksheets, work the grammar with you and teach you the phrases required to get you started in the language.
