About Cherie
My name is Cherie and my own children are grown up now, but I am aware of how hard it was for my own children at times to engage with learning at school when they had particular difficulties. I like to help children find their own individual strengths and see that learning can be fun and satisfying. In my experience, children want to learn, they are curious and smart in their own unique ways.

I am passionate about literacy education, and teaching students with support needs especially ADHD and autism. I am supportive of individualised approaches.
I believe that creativity, joy and play are vital for wellbeing and as tools for learning. I also believe that many children benefit from help with predictable structure, time management, study skills and self-regulation.
Children with gaps in literacy skills need learning that targets those gaps: Age appropriate, targeted learning of the parts and sounds of words, sentence structure, grammar and fluency. We can make this fun by connecting to the child’s interests and using creativity.
I have an interest in creative arts therapies and mindfulness and can include mindfulness and art activities in my programs. This can be very helpful for children with anxiety, adhd.
Where required, I am happy to consult with your plan manager for NDIS clients to see how my services can benefit your child’s support needs.
