About Emma

I am a student at the University of Cambridge; I originally started a BA in classics and switched to linguistics after a year. I have A levels in Latin, Classical Greek, French and Classical Civilisation. I have helped numerous friends and students with national exams and application to top UK universities including Oxbridge. I also have first-hand knowledge of how to succeed in these areas!

About the lesson

I give lessons up to A level standard and the content is tailored to an individual’s needs. I use a range of learning methods but students are encouraged to foster a capacity for independent learning. I teach according to the specific exam board syllabus and spend significant time preparing outside of lessons. However, for university entrance coaching I focus more on drawing out their curiosity and individual talents. I will stay in regular contact with the student and there is the option for them to have weekly/fortnightly assignments or ‘mini-tests’. However, I recognise that this is an addition to school and so extra time going through topics the student finds more difficult may also be all that is needed. I also offer personal statement and university entrance exam coaching and am well poised to do this having experienced the Cambridge University entrance process twice (once for entrance, once to change subjects).
