About Owen
Hi! I'm Owen and I'm a graduate of Girton College at the University of Cambridge, where I read MA Modern and Medieval Languages and MPhil Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic from 2018 to 2023. During my undergraduate I studied French and German, with a focus on historical linguistics, and I spent my master’s continuing further study of Old Norse and Old English alongside writing a dissertation on comparative linguistics.
Following graduation, I’ve taken up various professional, full-time roles in education consultancy, leading in-house support for university applications at hundreds of schools across the UK and around the world. I’ve delivered presentations on Oxbridge applications to thousands of students and have designed training to help teachers at some of the UK’s top independent schools better support their own students with university applications. I’ve personally consulted with hundreds of students for (almost!) every subject at Oxbridge and have supported dozens of applicants across languages, literature, and history through the entire application process. I also enjoy tutoring A-level English Literature, French, and German.
In addition, I’m a British Council certified counsellor and have completed Russell Group certified training on supporting students to progress to competitive universities. Regardless of whether I'm tutoring A-level French, German, English Literature, helping students with university applications and Oxbridge admissions, or delivering student presentations to students or teacher training, I always aim to give students the same experience they'd have in a Cambridge supervision (or Oxford tutorial!) I like to use focused, academic content to really push students beyond the school curriculum and encourage them to engage with more complex material both for A-levels and for university preparation.
My lessons are usually an hour long and I work with students across A-level French, German, and English Literature, as well as with those targeting Oxbridge and other top unis across the humanities.
