About Emily
I value the teaching I have been exposed to at Cambridge University, and as a result, I also completed a PGCE and now have QTS. I thoroughly enjoy 1:1 teaching and the academic relationship it espouses. I have been tutoring a variety of students for two years, all of whom have sought a deeper understanding of English beyond school and want to excel in their exams. I champion an interdisciplinary approach to teaching English within a dialogic framework that helps students succeed and, simultaneously, develop eloquence and confidence in speaking.

I teach according to discussion and dialogic-based methods modelled and adapted from the 1:1 supervision I have experienced at Cambridge. I take a holistic/interdisciplinary approach to the teaching of English. I have taught a range of pupils, from age 12 to 18, from private, grammar and state schools. My lessons are typically 1- 2 hours long (depending on your preference), and I have had 2 years of 1:1 tutoring experience. I have tutored GCSE students, students wanting to take 13+ entrance exams, and mentored A-level students for their Oxbridge applications. I also have experience teaching in three schools. I have a degree in English from Christ's College, University of Cambridge and am working towards a PGCE from the University of Cambridge. I am also a published and practising poet.
