About Cait
I hold a graduate degree in ESL and have a strong passion for language, communication, and helping children grow as confident readers and learners. I love to travel, try new foods, learn new skills, and challenge myself — experiences that continually remind me how learning happens everywhere, not just in a classroom.
I bring a positive, upbeat energy to my lessons and enjoy making learning engaging and meaningful. While I understand that there is more to life than test scores, I also believe that having high standards for oneself builds accountability, confidence, and pride in progress. My approach balances encouragement with clear expectations, so students feel supported while also learning to challenge themselves.
Above all, I value connection and growth. I aim to create lessons that are not only effective, but also enjoyable — helping students build skills, confidence, and a sense that learning can be both purposeful and fun.

I specialize in helping elementary students build strong reading fluency and comprehension in a calm, encouraging environment. My lessons focus on understanding what we read — not just sounding out words — using age-appropriate comprehension strategies, visuals, and discussion to help ideas really “click.”
I often incorporate visual supports, graphic organizers, and simple reading strategies to help students track characters, main ideas, and details. These tools are especially helpful for students who feel overwhelmed by text or struggle to stay focused while reading.
Reading didn’t come easily to me as a child, so I understand firsthand how frustrating and discouraging it can feel. That experience shaped how I teach — with patience, empathy, and a belief that every child can become a confident reader with the right support. My goal is for students to feel successful, understood, and more confident each time we work together.
I adapt lessons to each child’s needs and learning style, and I always aim to make reading feel manageable, supportive, and achievable.
