About Suri

I am a native Chinese speaker from Hong Kong and am passionate about helping students build confidence in Mandarin. I understand that learning a new language can feel challenging at first, so I create a friendly, patient, and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

My lessons are carefully tailored to each student's level, learning style, and personal goals. Whether you are learning Mandarin for travel, work, school, or simply personal interest, I will help you develop practical language skills and confidence step by step.

My teaching techniques and methodology

I believe language learning should be practical, engaging, and tailored to each student's goals. My lessons focus on building confidence in speaking while also developing listening, reading, and writing skills. I use real-life conversations, pronunciation practice, useful vocabulary, and interactive exercises to make Mandarin enjoyable and relevant. Lessons can also be adapted to focus on areas such as daily conversation, travel, business Mandarin, or Chinese culture.

Typical length of a lesson

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although lesson length can be adjusted depending on the student's needs and preferences.

My qualifications and experience as a tutor

As a native Chinese speaker from Hong Kong, I have extensive experience communicating in both Chinese and English and understand the challenges that English-speaking learners may face when learning Mandarin. I am patient, approachable, and able to explain concepts clearly. I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident practising and making mistakes.
