About Megan

I took accounting and Life science through put my high school career and achieved above 60% in both. I matriculated last year in Johannesburg and moved down to PE to study. I have never given formal lessons where I charged however I helped my classmates with a section they were battling on and their marks improved a lot particularly in Life Science, accounting and mathematics. Dancing is what keeps me stable in life and I have been doing dancing for the last two and a half years competitively. Life Science or science in general is my passion and the main reason I chose BSc. I have also been tought to compete in swimming where I have helped a few people improve. One of my students got a meddle for all his strokes and Improved quite a lot.

About the lesson

Life Science
When I approach a topic I try break the stuff down by using bullet points and diagrams then form a sentance and develope a structure from that. I believe that taking a topic a little bit at a time is an important way to grasp it and form an understanding. I also believe if it is not done in little bits one can get overwhelmed.

Mathematics
Like with life science i like to approach the topic a bit at a time and try develope a method or formulae to try solve the solution. I also believe that reading forms a key part of your understanding in mathematics so that you can effectively analyse the question. I love to do past questions because one can actually show what a good way is to approach the question and go about answering it.

accounting
English is a key part of understanding and interpreting the information provided. I love using past papers to analyse and show where one can get trapped. I believe that colour can help one in processing and understanding the information. I also offer business lessons.

general rules
I do not tolerate people being late if you are late and we are in a group class the person who is late disrupts the class and then the whole class will write a test. also if your phone rings or makes a noise you will also write a test. I will often give practice exercises to work through on your own and you can ask questions. I believe practice is the reason one can do well and see where they go wrong. i also believe if someone puts in the time to develope an understanding they will do well. i love using acronyms to learn work. There may also be a random spot test to test once understanding.

Ballroom and Latin Dancing
When teaching ballroom and latin I tend to focus a lot on the technique and recap what we did last week. I try break down the steps and focus on the basics before going into technique so that one can develope an understanding. i used this when i tought a group to waltz and there were amazing results. practice plays a key part in learning a routine so I will expect the student to practice the steps. I feel it is more important to know the steps then the step name. Ballroom lessons are not available on webcam yet but can be done at your house. i am willing to travel up to 10 km

Details

I will charge the full fee if i am not atleast 24 hours before that a student would like to cancel and half if I am told 36 hours before. I need to accomodate other people and i am only available certain days. Fees depend on the distance i must travel. R 50 represents up to 20 km from where i was currently frome there it is R 2.50 per kilometer
