About Zaya
I have 3 years of experience teaching guitar and a Bachelor of Music in Composition with a guitar emphasis. I also perform and compose regularly, giving students insight into real-world music-making. My lessons focus on cultivating music as a creative, lifelong skill. I specialize in acoustic fingerstyle and classical guitar. I teach both beginners and advanced learners, adapting lessons to skill level and goals. My approach emphasizes intricate arrangements, expressive phrasing, and musical storytelling. Lessons include technique, theory, and improvisation, with room for creativity. Students gain confidence, skill, and a deeper connection to their instrument. I encourage each student to explore personal expression through the guitar. Every session is designed to inspire curiosity and artistry. I aim to cultivate technical skill alongside creative growth. I teach guitar with a focus on ear training and aural development. Students work on transcribing songs, melodic dictation, and interval recognition. Lessons include identifying chords, riffs, and solos by ear. The Campfire Strummer and Blues Seeker benefit from exercises that target listening accuracy. I integrate theory with practical application for real musical understanding. Students develop the ability to internalize melodies and chord progressions. Lessons progress at a pace suitable for each learner. Ear training strengthens improvisation, memory, and musical intuition. I provide exercises that combine slow practice and live listening challenges. Students gain confidence in hearing and reproducing music independently. Each lesson is interactive and engaging.
