About Heitor
Learning and teaching technical content is my passion. I started my career in 2013 as an undergraduate research assistant working with Machine Learning and Signal Processing. From there, I experienced research and industry challenges as a Data Scientist, Lecturer, and Consultant.
I have tutored audiences of different backgrounds: In-company training for analysts to break into Tech; bootcamp courses on AI; as a teaching assistant at University; and more.
After some years in Industry, I relocated to Montreal, and I'm currently a Ph.D. student in Machine Learning at Université du Québec. My long-term research goal is to design efficient and robust algorithms to reduce the gap between machine learning research and industrial applications. By doing so, we are one step closer to democratizing the accessibility of large models to empower people and small businesses, leveraging small-footprint yet powerful AI tools to edge applications.

Each class is unique and based on your background and objectives.
Usually, I use a Problem-based Learning (PBL) methodology to ensure that you learn the material and how to apply it in real-world situations. One of our classes' main goals is to help you develop your computational thinking and gain the skills and confidence you need to tackle complex challenges independently.
In a typical class, we will discuss and practice the concepts immediately. Therefore, at least 50% is a practical component, where I mentor you about useful development concepts in a pair-programming fashion.
