About Beatriz

I am a native Brazilian, born and raised in Sao Paulo. I moved to London at the beginning of 2020 to continue my acting and voice studies. I am very passionate about languages and accents. This diversity of sounds and cultures is what makes me want to work with the public. For the last five years, I've been working in events, as an actress, and more recently as an English and Brazilian Portuguese teacher.

About the lesson

The goal with my students is to speak confidently while having fun in the learning process. To achieve this our lessons are a mix of grammar, vocal warm ups and games to improve pronunciation and self-confidence. And of course, a lot of talking in Portuguese, after all Brazilians are amongst the chattiest people on Earth!

Luna is a super communicative 6 year old girl. She has no trouble in comprehending Portuguese either, her listening skills are jaw-dropping. Although, she's a bit shy when it comes to saying a word she already knows she is ready to say a new one, like "bagunceiro"!

Bernadette is a happy soul! Every class she comes in with a lot of positivity and no fear of making mistakes (which is the number one secret to learn a language in a faster pace). She's punctual and she's often taking notes during the lessons. A great student indeed!

The biggest surprise positive has been how easily she explains how to make the correct sounds - her acting expertise means she knows how to teach the physical mechanics of producing different sounds and accents - what muscles to use and how to position them - its amazingly insightful and makes learning Brazilian so much easier than just trying to guess and mimic sounds. I sound so much less like a cartoon character now and it really helps with speaking the language more confidently and feeling like you will actually be able learn to speak the language!
