About Chelsea

Currently I have completed my BPTC obtaining a Very Competent Classification. I was awarded an Advocacy Scholarship and the Student with Most Potential Award from the University of Law. I was also awarded the Major Jules Thorn Scholarship from the Middle Temple and was lucky enough to have scholarships to cover my fees for the BPTC, which lifted a great weight off my shoulders in my pursuit of fulfilling my dream career. Prior to this I studied a law degree at Leeds Beckett University receiving a First Class Honours Degree with the Milners Prize Award for Best Employment Law Student. I have extensive experience in mooting and debating.

Currently I work as a Paralegal/Litigation Executive for a niche law firm. I undertake litigation in their civil department and I am exposed to a wide ranging variety of work from commercial litigation, insolvency to human rights. I have the ability to advise my clients in a pragmatic way ensuring their needs and expectations are met to a high standard. Recently I have been permitted to undertake the court advocacy for the small claims department meaning I have the ability, and can obtain the experience, to see the case through from pre-litigation stages right through to trial. I therefore have hands on experience of law in practice as well as academically.

About the lesson

I am more than confident in delivering verbal advocacy in a teaching style. The basis of the BPTC is to instil confidence in pupils by regularly conducting public speaking exercises. I often participated in mooting competitions and debating competitions from which I was very successful. In addition to this, I volunteered for the Schools Consent Project, which involved conducting workshops in secondary schools on the issues surrounding sexual consent. This was a classroom-based workshop and would involve giving interactive tutorials using power point presentations as well pupil interaction. The age of the children involved in such workshops ranged from 12-17 year olds. This required the ability to take complex legal terminology and relay it in a simple way that was understood by the pupils. I am therefore more than confident in a classroom environment both visually and online. I have the ability to plan and structure a lesson to ensure the pupils stay engaged.

I currently work in a niche law firm as a Litigation Executive. One aspect of my fee-earning role is to also conduct in house seminars and tutorials for other fee earners to continue their professional development. This along with my studies has enabled me to conduct efficient research skills to be able to present the tutorials with both clarity and confidence.
