About Gokhan

I'm Dr Gokhan Guler, a Principal Data & AI Architect. I spent five years on blockchain projects in IT consultancy — assessing where distributed ledgers fit and where they don't, designing permissioned networks on Hyperledger and Corda, and building on Ethereum — and I'm a certified Blockchain Architect and Ethereum Smart Contract Developer. My day job now is enterprise data and AI, which is the lens most organisations actually need on blockchain: integration, data, security and governance rather than hype. I hold a PhD in engineering and computer science.

I've taught for more than twenty years at undergraduate and postgraduate level and delivered over 2,000 hours of one-to-one tutoring since 2017. My students have come from Oxford, Imperial College London, UCL, Manchester, Bristol, Queen Mary, Westminster and Maastricht, among others.

I teach from first principles — hashes, keys, consensus — and then we build: a wallet on a testnet, a token, a simple dApp. Expect plain language, live code, and a straight answer to "is blockchain the right tool for this?"

Away from work you'll find me with my family, who are my biggest supporters in all of this.

I teach Blockchain, Bitcoin and Ethereum to university students on fintech, distributed-systems and security modules, to professionals who need to evaluate or build on blockchain, and to developers writing their first smart contracts. I explain how the technology actually works — this is not investment advice.

WHAT WE WORK ON

- Fundamentals — hashing, public-key cryptography, digital signatures, Merkle trees, distributed consensus (proof of work, proof of stake, BFT), forks, and why decentralisation costs what it does.

- Bitcoin — keys, wallets and addresses, UTXOs and transactions, mining and difficulty, halvings, the Lightning Network, and Bitcoin's four-layer architecture: blockchain, protocol, token, applications.

- Ethereum and smart contracts — accounts and gas, the EVM, proof of stake, Solidity from your first contract to ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens, testing and deployment with Remix, Hardhat and Foundry on testnets, MetaMask, ethers.js and web3.py, OpenZeppelin, and the classic vulnerabilities (reentrancy, access control, oracle manipulation).

- DeFi, stablecoins and Web3 — automated market makers, lending protocols, stablecoin designs, NFTs, DAOs, layer-2 networks (Arbitrum, Optimism, Base), oracles, and the risks in each.

- Enterprise and permissioned blockchain — Hyperledger Fabric and Corda, tokenisation of real-world assets, supply-chain and identity use cases, integration with existing systems, and an honest assessment of when a database is the better answer.

- Regulation and security — MiCA and the UK FCA regime, custody, private-key hygiene, and how to recognise scams.

- Coursework, dissertations and projects — from a critical essay on consensus mechanisms to a working dApp. You build it; I supervise and challenge it.

RECENT WORK
Crypto and blockchain fundamentals for private learners · smart-contract development from a first Solidity contract to a token deployed on a testnet · blockchain architecture assessments and permissioned-network designs in my consultancy work.

HOW SESSIONS RUN
Online, with screen-sharing. Where it helps, we set up a testnet wallet and write real code together, and you keep the code and notes after every session. The first (free) session is a diagnostic: we map your module, project or goal against your deadlines and agree a plan. I reply within a few hours.

I help you understand and build your own work — the code and the writing are yours; I supervise, explain and challenge. Nothing I teach is financial advice.
