About Henry
Kia ora! I'm a second year at Victoria University of Wellington with a passion for teaching, especially my favourite subjects: Biology, Economics, and Social Studies!
I excelled in these classes in my High School, Macleans College, gaining an NZQA scholarship in Biology, Statistics, PE, and one of 11 outstanding scholarships in Economics, in addition to several Excellence endorsements. I have continued in these subjects at university, gaining an A in both my Biology and Economics course.
More importantly, I have a real passion for helping students with these interesting subjects! I have loved being a tutor in the past in both group and individual classes, ranging from volunteer after-school Primary School lessons to paid NCEA Biology tutoring just last year, and am striving to become a teacher after my studies. Through my tutoring, as well as other work and volunteer positions, I have developed good communication and organisational skills.
Prior tutee feedback: "Henry was fantastic! What an outstanding young man, who my slightly nervous son was very relaxed and happy with and said that Henry was a really good teacher".

I have become acutely aware of the differing needs of students depending on their subject, learning style, in-class practices, and other factors. I am flexible in how I structure lessons, with some students favouring working systematically through a school workbook to learn content, while others may benefit more from working through challenging past examination questions. While I am happy to follow any direction on particular topics or strategies, I am confident in using my judgement to determine the best path forward if desired. I have tutored in-person and over zoom in the past, and while I do find that in-person tutoring makes things easier, distance-tutoring has also proved successful.
