About Anne

Hi I'm Anne Tello, also known as x.o.anne. I’m a professional songwriter, recording artist, vocalist, and mentor with more than a decade of experience in the music industry and over 130 million streams across my songwriting credits.

My songs have achieved Billboard chart success, including a #1 at U.S. Dance Radio, as well as UK Top 20 success, Gold certification, BBC Radio 1 support, and millions of streams worldwide. My professional work also extends beyond traditional releases: I have composed and performed music for projects including Fortnite and provided vocals for Apple TV+.

I began my training at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where I studied Musical Theatre as an MLK Scholar, and later earned a Master’s degree in Songwriting and Production from Berklee NYC. I have also worked professionally within the publishing industry in both the U.S. and UK and have experience writing for and collaborating with artists, producers, and songwriters internationally.

Alongside my own creative career, I have worked with developing singers, songwriters, and artists through private teaching and professional mentorship. I especially enjoy helping students bridge the gap between developing their craft and understanding how that craft functions in the real music industry.

Most importantly, I aim to create an encouraging, honest, and judgment-free environment. You do not need to arrive sounding “perfect” or knowing exactly what kind of artist you want to be. My job is to meet you where you are, take your goals seriously, and give you practical, constructive feedback that helps you move forward.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual voice, goals, and experience. Whether you’re learning to sing for the first time, developing your songwriting, preparing for an audition or performance, or working toward a career as a recording artist, I want to help you develop the skills and confidence to sound like the best version of YOU.

As a professional vocalist and songwriter with over 130 million streams across my writing credits, I bring real-world music industry experience into every lesson. My work has included Billboard-charting releases, international radio success, major-label and independent artists, and music for film, television, and games. I’ve also spent years working with developing songwriters and artists, so I understand that great technique is only one part of becoming a compelling performer and creator.

VOCAL LESSONS

We’ll work on healthy vocal technique, breath support, range, tone, pitch, control, interpretation, and performance. Rather than trying to make every singer sound the same, I focus on helping students understand their own instrument and develop a distinctive, sustainable voice.

SONGWRITING, ARTIST DEVELOPMENT & INDUSTRY FEEDBACK

For writers and artists, sessions can include melody, lyrics, song structure, storytelling, rewriting, vocal production, arranging demos, creative direction, and developing your artistic identity.

I also offer industry-focused feedback and professional development sessions for artists and songwriters who may not need a traditional “lesson.” We can review your songs, demos, artist project, release strategy, creative direction, or professional materials and identify practical next steps. I can also help developing writers better understand co-writing, pitching songs, working with producers, publishing, sessions, and navigating the professional songwriting world.

A TYPICAL LESSON

A vocal lesson may begin with warm-ups and targeted exercises before moving into repertoire chosen around your goals. Songwriting lessons are often workshop-based: we can analyze songs, develop an idea from scratch, or work intensively on something you’re already writing. Artist development and industry-feedback sessions are shaped around your current project and the specific questions or challenges you bring in.

WHO I TEACH

I work with beginners through advanced singers and songwriters, including adults, teens, aspiring professionals, recording artists, and students preparing for auditions or music programs. I also work with emerging and working artists who want an experienced outside perspective on their music or professional development.

You do not need professional experience to work with me — curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to experiment are much more important.

My goal is not simply to teach you how to sing a song or follow a songwriting formula. It’s to give you practical tools you can continue using independently, while helping you discover what makes your voice, writing, and artistry uniquely yours.
