About Enrico

I am a twenty-four year old postgraduate student in Data Science. I have previously completed another master's degree in Cognitive Computational Neuroscience after an undergraduate degree in Medical Science. I have many interests and a few developed skills, chief among which is learning languages. I am also a very sociable person who tends to favor social interactions at all times, which is what initially led me to become part of the deaf community as a hearing person, and to now be training to become a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI). I am keen to meet anybody who is approaching Italian as a foreign language, regardless of their initial level, and help them navigate through this history-reach, linguistically fascinating language in light of their pre-defined goals.

About the lesson

The lessons that I provide are typically two to three hours long and and occur with weekly frequency, however this can be subject to change according to the individual requirements of the student.

I usually start by making an assessment of the student's starting level and deficiencies. I will then tailor my lessons in order to address the shortcomings I have identified. I am available, upon request, to follow a pre-defined academic curriculum (e.g. GCSE) or to teach for the purpose of an official language qualification, or I can teach, somewhat more informally, immersing the learner into any level of Italian conversation, from basic to intermediate to professional and even scientific.

I have a life long experience in self-teaching languages such as Spanish (intermediate), French (intermediate), Chinese (HSK 3) and British Sign Language (level 3-6), which makes me acutely aware of the winning learning strategies that can achieve mnemonic retention and improve the level of the learner. I will use this knowledge I have cultivated over the years to tailor my lessons accordingly.

I have a passion for etymology and linguistics and I am often able to create links with Latin-based English vocabulary to improve memorization and also provide a finer understanding of the origin of the Italian lang
