About Jean

I have been teaching students privately since 2022. I have done a number of different kinds of lessons, ranging from Zoom lessons to in-person one-on-ones to group lessons and masterclasses. I have worked with all ages, having taught young students attending elementary and high school as well as adults, aspiring professional musicians and hobbyists.

Some notable performances include performances with Kendrick Scott, Antonio Sanchez, Tia Fuller and George Garzone. They also include performances at Dizzy's Jazz Club at the Lincoln Center in New York and at the Cambridge Jazz Festival in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

My vision for saxophone lessons is to inspire students, to light a spark of curiosity that may bloom into discovery of new, exciting and amazing music.

About the lesson

I like to take a slow and methodical approach with every student I teach. Every student is different and has varying teaching needs, and I try to tailor my lessons to fit exactly what the student needs for them to make steady progress.

I like to start lessons with a warm-up and to talk about the student's goals for the lesson. Lessons will look different for each student as it is tailored from person to person.

My lessons are for all ages, and all levels. I like to teach at a pace that fits the student, whatever that may mean for them.

The free first lesson with Jean allows you to get to know the tutor and discuss your needs and expectations.

Every first lesson is a gratis "get-to-know" between myself and the new student. I like to use this time to talk about their journey with music, evaluate what their goals are for the lessons and gather an idea of what we should work on in the first lessons.

My rate remains the same for online lessons because I prefer in-person lessons when I can. If online is the only option it is no problem.
