About Jasmine

Hi, I'm Jasmine, a violin teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music degree from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). I previously taught at Bentley Music Academy and now teach through Euphoria Music via house-calls, home studio lessons, and online coaching.

My journey in music began with a love for learning and performing, but over time I discovered that I found even greater joy in helping others succeed. There is something incredibly rewarding about seeing a student play a piece they once thought was impossible, gain confidence, or discover a genuine love for music.

I have taught students of all ages, from young children to adults and senior learners, ranging from complete beginners to ABRSM Grade 7 level. Every student learns differently, which is why I enjoy adapting lessons to suit their personality, goals, and learning style.

I believe music education should be both structured and enjoyable. Learning should be challenging enough to promote growth, yet encouraging enough to keep students motivated. Some of the most memorable lessons happen when students are laughing, experimenting, making discoveries, and realising they are capable of more than they expected.

Whether a student wishes to pursue examinations, play in an orchestra, serve in worship ministry, or simply enjoy music as a lifelong hobby, my goal is to help them become confident, capable musicians while keeping their love for music alive.

Other than making lessons fun with laughter, my teaching philosophy is simple: don't just learn pieces—learn how music works.

Many students can play a piece after weeks of practice, but struggle when presented with a new score. My goal is to help students become independent musicians who can learn, understand, and enjoy music confidently long after the lesson ends.

Lessons are structured around four key areas:

1. Technical Foundations
Developing posture, tone production, coordination, scales, arpeggios, bow control, shifting, and other essential skills that make playing feel easier and more natural.

2. Musicianship
Training the ears and eyes through sight-reading and aural activities. These skills help students learn new pieces faster, play in orchestras and ensembles, accompany others, and even work out melodies by ear.

3. Repertoire
Students may follow a structured syllabus or learn pieces that match their personal interests. The goal is to apply musical skills in meaningful and enjoyable music-making.

4. Understanding Music
Theory is integrated into practical learning so students understand what they are playing instead of relying purely on memorisation.

Lessons are adapted according to the student's goals. Some students enjoy working towards ABRSM examinations, while others learn for worship ministry, orchestra participation, personal enrichment, or simply the joy of making music.

To support busy families, Euphoria Music also uses a built-in replacement credit system. This removes the need to constantly find separate make-up lesson dates while still providing flexibility for examinations, travel, and unexpected commitments. Please find out more about the replacement credit system from the "Rates Detail" below.

Above all, I want students to leave each lesson knowing not only what to practise, but why they are practising it.

I understand that busy families often face school activities, examinations, travel plans, and unexpected events. To make lesson scheduling stress-free, I use a built-in replacement credit system rather than the traditional one-to-one replacement model.

Each lesson is 1 hour long, but students are only charged for 45 minutes. The remaining 15 minutes are accumulated as replacement credit. Over time, these credits are used to cover missed lessons due to approved absences.

For example, after three attended lessons, a student would have accumulated 45 minutes of replacement credit—enough to cover one missed lesson. This means families do not need to worry about finding another day and time for make-up lessons, which can often be difficult for both parents and teachers.

It is important to note that this is a gradual replacement system, not a direct one-to-one replacement. The credits build up steadily over time and are used to support occasional absences while allowing students to retain their regular lesson slot and maintain continuity in learning.

This approach has worked well for many families as it provides flexibility, reduces scheduling conflicts, and keeps the focus on consistent musical progress rather than constantly rearranging calendars.

Other than that, house-call lessons incur a flat travel allowance of RM20 per visit.

In addition, books, instruments, and violin accessories such as shoulder rests, rosin, strings, and music stands are available for purchase through Euphoria Music for your convenience. Guidance can also be provided to help students select suitable instruments and learning materials according to their age, level, and musical goals.
