About Tessa

I am a dedicated violin instructor with 8 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music Education in Strings with a specialization in violin. My teaching is rooted in strong classical foundations while encouraging students to explore expressive and creative playing. I focus on developing essential skills such as bow technique, vibrato, phrasing, and musical interpretation.

I believe that technique and expression go hand in hand. My lessons are structured to build accuracy, tone quality, and confidence step by step. I guide students through scales, études, and repertoire that strengthen both technical control and musical understanding.

I also provide focused support for exam preparation, helping students meet syllabus requirements with clarity and confidence. In addition, I prepare students for ensemble playing, teaching them how to listen, blend, and perform effectively in group settings.

Each lesson is personalized to suit the student’s level, goals, and learning style. I create a positive and motivating environment where students feel comfortable to grow. My aim is to help every student become a skilled, expressive, and confident violinist.

About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on building strong fundamentals while making violin learning enjoyable and meaningful. I begin with posture, bow control, and finger placement to create a solid technical base. Students gradually develop tone quality, intonation, and rhythm through guided practice. I include structured training in sight reading so students can confidently play new music.

Vibrato development is introduced step by step to help students add expression and warmth to their playing. I also teach essential music theory to improve understanding of notes, scales, and musical structure. Foundational string techniques such as bowing styles, shifting, and dynamics are carefully practiced. Each lesson is designed to match the student’s level and learning speed.

For students interested in modern styles, I help them explore expressive playing, stage confidence, and creativity in performance. For those drawn to classical music, I guide them through discipline, precision, and interpretation of traditional pieces. I encourage regular practice habits with clear goals and feedback.

My aim is to build confidence, passion, and consistency in every student. I create a supportive environment where mistakes are part of learning. Students grow not only as violinists but also as confident performers.
