About Kamisha
Hi, I’m Kamisha! I’m a London based fashion designer and experienced seamstress/maker with years of experience creating womenswear, custom garments and pieces for other designers.
I run my own independent womenswear brand, Kam’s Collection, and have worked professionally constructing garments from initial designs through to finished pieces.
Over the years I’ve often been asked if I teach sewing, and after recently teaching one-to-one, I discovered how much I enjoy helping someone build their confidence and understand the skills I’ve developed through years of sewing.
I particularly enjoy helping beginners get comfortable with their machines and seeing them progress towards being able to create things for themselves.

I offer relaxed, one-to-one sewing lessons for beginners who want to learn at their own pace in a friendly and encouraging environment, either in person in London or online.
What I can help you with:
• Getting to know your sewing machine
• Threading your machine and winding/inserting bobbins
• Machine control and sewing confidently
• Straight stitching, curves and seam allowances
• Understanding fabrics and how they behave
• Cutting fabric accurately
• Reading and working with sewing patterns
• Basic garment construction
• Using an overlocker
• Troubleshooting common sewing-machine problems
• Working towards a project or garment you’d eventually like to make
You don’t need any previous sewing experience. If you’ve never touched a sewing machine before, that’s completely fine!
Rather than following exactly the same course with everyone, I like to understand what you’d eventually like to make and build your lessons around the skills you’ll need to get there.
In-person lessons
For beginners, I recommend a 2-hour session, as this gives us enough time to learn, practise and work through techniques without rushing.
Sewing machines are available to use during your lesson, along with basic practice fabrics and materials.
If you already own a sewing machine, you’re also welcome to bring it so I can help you become confident using your own machine.
Online lessons
Online one-to-one lessons are available if you have your own sewing machine and would prefer to learn from home.
These can be particularly useful if you need help getting to know your machine, understanding a sewing pattern, troubleshooting a problem, learning a particular technique or getting guidance with a project you’re already working on.
Online lessons can be booked for 1 hour, so you don’t need to commit to a full 2-hour session if you just need help with something specific.
My aim is for you to leave each lesson understanding not only how to do something, but why you’re doing it, so you gradually become confident sewing independently.
Whether you eventually want to make your own clothes, develop your sewing skills for a future business, or simply learn sewing as a hobby, lessons can be adapted around your goals.
