About Kyle

I am a multi-disciplined athlete with a passion for tennis.

I have been doing sports for as long as I can remember, and always had a passion for learning new skills. Teaching is a skill in itself and I have honed this skill over many years.

I believe the best coaches have experience across various disciplines to be able to bring inspiration from various backgrounds, known as ‘Combinatory play’, a concept coined by Einstein as the key to creativity.

As a Cambridge University graduate I also have a passion for design and tutor academically but always find myself drawn to sports and its complexities and nuances incredibly fascinating and rewarding.

About the lesson

Looking to improve your tennis skills, build confidence on the court, or learn the game from scratch?

I offer friendly, structured tennis coaching for beginner to intermediate players of all ages. Whether you're picking up a racquet for the first time or looking to refine your technique, lessons are tailored to your individual goals and ability level.

Are you looking to improve to keep up with friends, beat a specific type of player, win a specific tournament or for your own self-improvement? Do you have a specific shot that is letting you down, are you struggling to get to balls on time or do you feel like your level drops as soon as you play a match?

Whatever your reason, I am excited to find out what YOU are like as a player and a person, and start on a journey that will get the most out of your game.

As part of your tennis journey we will explore;
1. Grip types, variations and shot specific selections
2. Racquet position and control
3. Body utilisation, momentum and kinematic chain
4. Shot technique; forehands, backhands, serves, volleys, overhead etc
5. Footwork and agility
6. Court and player awareness
7. Consistency and confidence
8. Match tactics and psychology
9. Equipment; racquet, shoes, strings, grip

Optional video analysis is available to help you visualise technique, body position, swing path, grip type and movement.

Depending on level and student aims, there will be a mixture of direct coaching of techniques, drills, rallying, technique specific games, and practice match play. I will leave with you at least one thing to think about and/or practise between sessions so that your improvement continues beyond our lessons.

I am able to teach both 1 handed and 2 handed backhands.

I believe learning/teaching should be a two way track so I am also very receptive to feedback, if things are going too fast, too slow, too boring, too fun (!) let me know and we can discuss; including outside of lessons so as not to use up valuable learning time.
