About Carl
Hello! I'm Carl, a Board-Certified Clinical Pharmacist (BCPS), Clinical Assistant Professor, and an oncology specialist. The material I teach isn't theoretical, it's the same clinical reasoning I use to train doctorate-level pharmacists.
For the past five years I've taught pharmacy students in the classroom and on hospital rounds, supervised experiential rotations, and mentored PharmD students and residents as they build their clinical skills. That combination — full-time university teaching plus daily patient care — is what lets me connect textbook pharmacology to how it actually plays out at the bedside.
I can help you with:
- Pharmacotherapy and clinical therapeutics (case-based)
- Pharmacology and mechanisms of drug action
- Pathophysiology
- Oncology pharmacotherapy and chemotherapy regimens — a specialty most tutors can't offer
- Exam prep and difficult coursework
- Building the clinical reasoning skills you'll need on rotations and beyond
Every student learns differently, so sessions are built around your course, your exam, and where you're actually stuck — not a generic script. My goal is for you to leave understanding the material, not just memorizing it for one test.
Book your first lesson (free) and tell me what you're working on — we'll take it from there.

My teaching approach is student-centered: sessions are built around your goals, whether that's improving course performance, preparing for an exam, strengthening clinical reasoning, or gaining confidence applying scientific concepts.
I believe understanding why something happens is far more valuable than memorizing isolated facts. Every session builds a conceptual foundation first, then moves to application through clinical cases, practice questions, and discussion — you'll be doing the thinking, not just receiving information.
A typical session runs like this:
1. Identify your learning objective and assess where you're starting from
2. Review the key concepts you need
3. Work through case-based examples or practice problems together
4. Clarify sticking points as they come up
5. Close with a summary of take-home points and what to study before next time
I teach undergraduate and graduate students in pharmacy, biology, and the biomedical and health sciences — covering pharmacology, therapeutics, physiology, pathophysiology, evidence-based practice, and research interpretation. Sessions run from introductory level through advanced professional training. Together we can create a customized plan that addresses your personal goals.
