Firstly I would make sure that the student feels comfortable asking for help by having the student introduce himself. My lessons would typically consist of me first explaining the core concepts and principles thoroughly and then moving on to a question that tests the concept. I would allow the student to attempt the question on their own for a few minutes after which I would check their work and help them with what they got wrong or didn't finish. I would then have a recap of the principle to make sure that the student has grasped the concept.
I graduated with my Accounting degree in 2018. This year I will be studying towards a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) / Accounting Honours. In my 2nd year of studying I was a Supplemental Instruction leader where I tutored a Business managent module. I also tutored Grade 11 Accounting at NMU's annual accounting winterschool for high school learners. I am a member of my university's 'PinnAcle Leadership Programme'. This programme consists of the top 20 students for each year of study (1st year-4th year) for Bcom Accounting . University has been an amazing experience for me because I love learning new things, doing my best and overcoming challenges.
Something that is most important when searching for the right tutor is enthusiasm. This perfectly describes Shannon. She is able to explain concepts in plain terms and get the principles across to students. She doesn't give up until you're comfortable with a specific topic, which is a great character trait.
