About Jamie
My name is Jamie and my drive in life is to respond to the social injustices that limit the potential of people around the world. Teaching can play a crucial role in breaking down the inequalities and that requires passionate and dedicated teachers. I firmly believe anyone can teach, albeit with support, guidance and encouragement. This cannot mean you give up on who you are - you need to grow your own teacher identity and live your own truths. As an educator, I have experience in supporting students across a range of educational programmes. I believe in student-centred approaches where we build knowledge and skills that are constructed from where you are. Looking forward to working with you and helping in any way I can. No matter the challenge - I will try and if I can't help, we will find an avenue of support where you can thrive.

I am a senior lecturer and programme leader for QTS routes (PGCE and Undergraduate) into teaching. This is after a 15-year career in education that included: class teacher, headteacher, government adviser, and consultant. Teaching is one of the most rewarding professions, but can be challenging and isolating. I use a range of de-colonial and student-centred frameworks that support you in your own contexts to thrive. I can help with: 1. Academic writing - including dissertations 2. Managing workload 3. Placement challenges and pedagogical support 4. Admissions and interview preparation 5. Preparation for your teaching degree and training 6. Having someone to talk to about your progress and offer further guidance and support to thrive 7. Neurodivergent teachers (not limited to, but include - AD(H)D, dyslexia, dyspraxia, ASD). I have lived these challenges and want to help all students achieve their goals. 2. General vs Specific
3. Make sure you are always linking back to the aim of formative assessment
4. In your construction of the working definition for formative assessment - introduce the idea that it can be from a child/teacher's perspective.
