About Dr Hande
Holding a PhD in Applied Screen Studies from the University of Warwick, an MA in Journalism and Documentary Practice from the University of Sussex, and Fellowships with the Advanced Higher Education (AFHEA and FHEA), Dr Hande has spent over a decade supporting international students across UK, European, and Turkish universities.
Her teaching is grounded in genuine care and a steady commitment to student progress, an approach that was also recognised with the Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence (WATE, 2024).
Her research received Honourable Mentions from the British Association of Film, Television and Screen Studies (BAFTSS, 2024) and the International Association of Autoethnography and Narrative Inquiry (IAANI, 2026) for Outstanding Audio/Visual Project.
Academia can sometimes feel like a lonely journey. Even so, every now and then, a brief conversation at a conference corner or a small encounter within the literature reminds you that you are on the right path. If you'd ever like to share that path for a moment, let's keep in touch.

I work collaboratively with undergraduates, postgraduates, and early-career researchers, using a compassionate, trauma-informed, and learner-centred approach.
Trial Session
Think of this as a friendly introductory chat. It is simply a chance for us to connect, talk about what brings you here, and find the best way to help you feel at ease.
Grant and Fellowship Application
Having secured fully funded scholarships in the UK, including Chevening and a fully funded PhD, I am glad to share the insights I picked up along the way and guide you through your own application process.
Career Growth
I can support you with preparing academic posters and presentations, getting ready for a PhD viva, refining CVs, cover letters, and personal statements, and running mock interviews for university applications.
Academic Writing and Motivation
Whether you are working on a draft for publication, shaping an essay or dissertation, tackling referencing, or navigating a heavy workload, you can receive feedback on structure, flow, clarity, style, and critical thinking.
Methodology and Research Ethics
You can get feedback on developing research proposals and designing qualitative or mixed-methods studies. Support is also available for fieldwork, research ethics, co-production, autoethnography, participant observation, oral history, and creative or embodied research methods such as zine-making, body-mapping, and filmmaking.
Consultancy
We can create a shared space to pause, discuss any academic challenges you are facing, talk through your ideas, and map out a clear path forward.
Wishing you the very best with your studies!
Recommendations
Recommendations are written by the tutor's friends, family, and acquaintances.
I've met Dr. Hande Çayır before she became a doctor. Initially, she started working as a designer for our publications, then proved herself to be a talented editor. Then she became my right hand in managing the company. All this happened in a couple of years, and she worked with me for almost ten years. She has a calm, hardworking, and intelligent soul with attention to detail. I always found her to have extremely sophisticated emotional empathy. Hande excels in whatever she does, from teaching to singing and anything in between.
I have known Hande since our undergraduate years and have had the opportunity to follow her academic work closely. I truly value her openness and her critical approach to research. I once attended an international academic conference where she presented her study, and I was impressed by her originality and clarity. If you are looking for a competent tutor who knows when to step outside the box without sacrificing efficiency, working with Hande is definitely the right choice!
