About Maria
As a filmmaker and editor with 15 years of experience, I focus on climate storytelling that helps us examine and redefine our relationship with more than the human world. My films have been distributed by The New Yorker, ARTE, PBS, and won numerous awards including two Jackson Wild Awards and an Emmy. Some of my work has been exhibited in museums (such as The Sydney Opera House, The Peabody Essex Museum, and The Exploratorium), in festivals, universities, and climate conferences worldwide. I've completed my artist residencies with SFFilm and The Redford Center with the Sundance Film Institute.

My lessons will be tailored to your level of knowledge. So young students who are just starting out to seasoned professionals looking to expand their wheelhouse and everyone in between can benefit.
I provide both theory and best practices when it comes to storytelling as well as the practical nuts and bolts of setting up your project, media management, program proficiency, editing techniques, supporting software, sound design and color grading. Everything you would need for a successful edit from start to finish.
Once we identify your level of skill and the direction of your inquiry (narrative film, music video, documentary, etc.) I will provide a tailored lesson plan as well as original footage for us to work on. At the end of our lessons, you will walk away with a fully completed project.
