About Luis
My background combines the physical and computational sides of robotics.
I hold a First-Class MEng in Mechanical Engineering and am now completing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Engineering, with research focused on autonomous navigation.
I have university teaching experience on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, alongside engineering subjects including Dynamics and Control Systems.
I also work on applied autonomous-systems projects alongside my research, giving me experience with robotics beyond purely classroom examples.
My research received the Best Paper Award at IEEE COINS 2024.

Robotics sits at the intersection of engineering, mathematics, sensing, programming and Artificial Intelligence. My lessons focus on showing how these pieces fit together into a complete autonomous system rather than treating individual algorithms in isolation.

AI methods used in robotic systems
For example, rather than learning localisation, planning and control as separate topics, we can look at how information flows through the system and what assumptions each component makes about the robot and its environment.
Sessions can be based around lecture material, mathematical derivations, worked examples, algorithmic exercises or exam preparation.
