About Michael

Hi, I am an architectural designer with 14 years in practice, most of it on high-end residential in Saint Tropez, New York, Miami and Dubai, including four years at SAOTA. Most recently I was lead concept designer for a luxury residential developer, running design across around 20 projects and leading a team of nine.

Most of what I know about Revit came from being thrown into real projects with real deadlines, and from colleagues who took the time to sit down and show me properly. I ended up doing the same for the designers I led, and that is the part of the job I enjoyed most.

I would rather teach you the logic of how the software works than a list of buttons to press, because the logic is what lets you solve the next problem on your own.

I am patient, and I am direct about what is not working. If something is going wrong in your model, I will show you why it happened rather than just fixing it and moving on.

About the lesson

Revit taught by someone who uses it on real projects, not from a course syllabus.

I have 14 years in architectural practice, including four years at SAOTA, one of the world's leading residential practices, where everything was delivered in Revit. I am Revit certified and have worked on high-end residential across the UK, France, Dubai and the US.

Sessions can cover any of the following, or whatever you actually need:

Getting started and understanding how the model thinks, so you stop fighting it
Levels, grids and setting a project up properly from the beginning
Walls, floors, roofs and building real assemblies rather than generic ones
Families and components, editing existing ones and making your own
Views, sheets, schedules and getting a drawing set out cleanly
Worksharing and coordination when more than one person is in the model
Fixing a model that has gone wrong, which is more common than anyone admits

Sessions usually run an hour, or two if we are working through a live problem, and I adapt the pace to you rather than following a fixed course.

Useful if you are a student who needs Revit for a project, someone retraining into architectural technology, or already working and stuck on something specific.

If you have a live deadline and a model that is misbehaving, bring it to the session and we will fix it together on screen. That is usually the fastest way to learn it anyway.

Sessions in person around Glasgow, or online by video with screen share, which works particularly well for software.
