About Cadence
"I have over 8 years of experience teaching violin and helping students discover the joy of playing through different musical traditions. I hold an Associate of Music in String Performance with a focus on Violin, which has strengthened my understanding of technique and musical expression. My teaching style combines strong fundamentals with the creativity found in folk music.
I specialize in Nordic folk violin traditions including Norwegian Fiddle, Swedish Fiddle, and Klezmer music. I teach ornamentation, rhythmic bowing patterns, and ear-based learning to help students develop a natural musical feel. These skills allow students to play with more freedom and connect deeply with the music.
I use folk jam tracks, drone tuners, and repertoire-based instruction to make lessons practical and engaging. I remember a student who found rhythm difficult at first, but regular practice with folk tracks helped them become more confident and expressive. I enjoy seeing students grow as they discover new sounds and styles.
My lessons welcome beginners and experienced players who want to explore cultural traditions through the violin. I believe every piece of music carries a story, and learning those stories makes the journey more meaningful. I would love to guide you in learning the violin through rich cultural sounds and traditions."

"My teaching approach focuses on helping violin students become confident readers while building strong technical foundations. Lessons include sight reading, understanding ledger lines, complex rhythms, note recognition, and reading multi part scores. I use a clear step by step method that connects what students see on the page with their finger movements.
I help students improve their visual to finger coordination so they can approach new music with greater confidence. For example, we practice short sections of unfamiliar pieces regularly to train quick recognition and accurate playing. This method helps students become more comfortable during rehearsals, performances, and auditions.
I also teach rhythm exercises that improve timing and awareness when reading challenging passages. Students learn how to follow different musical parts while staying connected to the overall performance. My lessons are adjusted to match each student's pace and goals while building steady progress.
I support singers and performers who want stronger violin reading skills for group and stage settings. My goal is to help you read music fluently, perform with confidence, and approach new pieces with a positive mindset. With consistent practice and guidance, you can develop the skills needed to play new pieces with greater ease."
