About Nicole
I am a Psychology graduate from California who has been living in Australia for 3.5 years. As a previous youth counsellor and kindergarten teacher I have a love for working with children. Assisting younger children with reading and writing has been rewarding throughout my career as a teacher. I believe that without proper reading and writing skills life is much more difficult. Every child deserves to have the ability to read and write - it's a key to future successes.

My lessons are geared towards Kindergarten - Year 5. Reading and writing must be enjoyable, and the first challenge is finding out what a child is interested in. Once you find their interest you can start incorporating it into lessons, which will assist in attention and retaining knowledge. Continuous positivity and motivation are also important in my lesson, especially for children who are struggling with words. My lessons include: setting a focus for the current book, choosing 3-5 words to focus on (spelling and meaning), and reviewing previous work. It's always important to review and clearly communicate any questions that the child might be confused by.
