About Preston
I’m Dr. Preston, a nuclear engineer, educator, and applied Artificial Intelligence practitioner with over a decade of teaching experience helping students achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.
My academic journey began at UC Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley and Livermore Laboratories, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Physics, and continued through graduate school, where I earned both my M.S. (2022) and Ph.D. (2025) in Nuclear Engineering with expertise in applied Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Professionally, I have worked across government, academia, and industry, applying advanced physics, engineering, and AI in real-world technical environments. This gives me a perspective that goes beyond textbooks. I teach not only the theory, but how these concepts are actually used in practice.
Over the past 10+ years, I have taught students across a wide range of subjects, from algebra and AP Physics to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, standardized test preparation (AFOQT, SAT/ACT, ASVAB), and other technical disciplines. Working with learners across age groups and experience levels has helped me develop a teaching style that is patient, adaptable, structured, and focused on results.
Students often choose to work with me because I combine deep technical expertise with the ability to explain difficult ideas clearly and without intimidation. A typical lesson may include conceptual explanation, visual walkthroughs, guided coding in Python, hands-on exercises, project development, debugging support, and discussion of real-world applications. Depending on your goals, I may also incorporate customized interactive learning tools, adaptive practice environments, and data-driven learning pathways that dynamically adjust difficulty, pacing, and focus areas based on your progress and performance.
Topics include machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, generative AI, large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, AI agents, natural language processing, computer vision, model evaluation, explainability, and deployment fundamentals.
