About Timothy

I first made my internal connection to Art when I was 5 years old. In 3rd to 6th grade I was attending after school Still-life Acrylic painting basic college level 101 classes. I continued taking every Art class that I could until graduating HS, from advanced drawing/painting, pottery, photography, Graphic design, advertising, theater, Art history. After HS, I attended Art school where I began going by the Artist name, Smitty. After over a year in Art School, I decided to travel and explore the country for the better part of a decade like so many artists I had read about. Everywhere I moved to I brought my portfolio case and for years never left home without my sketchbook. I loved Art deeply. I loved the process, the journey, the feeling of a completed work and the smiles it had the potential to invoke from its audience. I expanded further in exploring Dance, Martial Arts and body motion. Eventually my business name evolved to Smitty Art Explorations, of which I have an online gallery website under that name. I've had numerous Art exhibits and continue to sell my Art. I am a resident senior Aikido Instructor at a traditional Japanese Martial Arts Dojo and a practitioner of Toyama Ryu Battodo where I am scheduled to take my Instructor certification this year. In the schools I've attended, I have been very fortunate to have been a student of some of the most amazing, experienced and mentoring Art teachers in my life. They recognized my passion for Art and challenged my skills and understanding of Artistic Expression. What I was taught is something that I wish to share with my students. Lessons that should never be lost. As a teacher, I still continue to learn at an accelerated rate than just creating art on my own. My students not only challenge themselves but challenge me as their instructor with the questions they pose. That's when the creative process becomes a collaborative one that nothing can compare to or replace. Shall we collaborate.

About the lesson

In my class, you will learn to expand your creative processing, technical skills and finished work to give a professional feel to it. We start with base fundamentals and advance building an in-depth connection within yourself and what your goals are in your desired personal journey in the Arts. My students learn how to use different mediums, styles, composition, balance, concepts and materials. They will learn finishing, glazing, image taking and print specifications. Any Art is a form of personal therapy and my class gives the fundamental building blocks and expansion that allows my students to explore their internal expressive selves. There are no limits except what limits you.
