About William
True mastery of the guitar does not happen by playing the same three chords for years on end without understanding why they work together. I build our time together by assessing your current level through a free trial session to ensure we are starting exactly where you need to be.
By integrating music theory and ear training into every lesson, I ensure you understand the mechanics behind strumming patterns and blues progressions. My BMus training at the Royal College of Music informs how I demonstrate fingerpicking techniques and electric technique for my exam candidates. We systematically cover barre chords and power chords to provide a solid foundation for any style you choose to explore.
I find that focusing on these technical elements early on makes the creative side of playing much more accessible. It is just about getting the basics right first.

Do you feel stuck trying to navigate the fretboard without a clear path forward? I work primarily with teens, intermediate learners, and those preparing for grade exams who want a more structured way to master the instrument. Since graduating from the Royal College of Music with a BMus, I have spent 13 years teaching students how to bridge the gap between theory and actual music.
My background involves preparing candidates for rigorous exams, and I have had the privilege of working with 117 students so far. I am honest about the work required to succeed. Sometimes progress feels slow. However, I am energetic and supportive throughout the entire process.
My teaching focuses on turning complex concepts into manageable habits that stick. I look forward to hearing about where you want your musical journey to go next.
