About Stefan
I bring extensive experience as a student, teacher, and researcher, having worked within leading international institutions and earned some of the field’s most competitive opportunities. As your tutor, I will draw on this background—along with my insights and professional network—to guide you strategically and help you achieve your goals.
My qualifications: I received a PhD from ETH Zurich (Department of Architecture). I have 5 years of teaching experience as a Design Unit Leader at the Architectural Association. I hold an AA Diploma (Masters in Architecture) and RIBA Part I & II. I was a full-scholarship student at the Architectural Association.
I have mentored over 50 master’s-level architectural students through their year-long design thesis projects, several of whom received awards and prizes, including a nomination for the prestigious RIBA Silver Medal. Having sat many admission interviews and scholarship panels, I know what scores points for evaluators.

I offer tutoring sessions to support students and early-career professionals in their architectural education and career.
I aim to help you feel more confident in your work and objectives by providing the knowledge, guidance, and support you need to achieve your ambitions.
What I offer: a free 30-minute introductory session to discuss your goals and see whether you'd like to work together. Sessions are available in 45- or 60-minute formats.
What I cover:
A) Applying to architecture school?
- University applications, portfolios, personal statements, and interviews. I’ll review your application and tailor it to strengthen it. I’ll review your portfolio, provide feedback, and help you prepare for interviews to help you secure a place at university or find a job.
B) Already in architecture school?
- Project, design, and concept tutoring. I’ll review your work, help strengthen your concepts, and provide ideas, strategies, and feedback.
- Drawing, representation, and presentation. I’ll help improve your architectural drawings and visualisations, and refine how you communicate your process and final work. I’ll also advise on CAD, 3D modelling, motion graphics, 3D animation, film editing, and photogrammetry.
- Project presentations. I’ll coach you to structure and deliver clear, engaging presentations using your visual work. Stronger presentation skills will improve your communication in reviews, critiques, conferences, and interviews.
- Essay writing and dissertation review. I’ll review your writing and provide feedback on structure, content, methodology, and literature review.
C) Thinking about doing a PhD?
- Finding the right institution and developing your research idea. I’ll help you identify suitable institutions, contact supervisors, and develop your research direction.
- PhD research plan review. I’ll review your proposal and help strengthen your research plan.
D) Thinking about leaving architecture?
- Exploring new directions. I’ll advise you on making the transition, using your architectural training to your advantage, and thinking through life beyond architecture.

Details
I charge £50 per hour for remote and in person session.
For travel and in person sessions:
- No additional charges for sessions in the following postcodes: E5, E9, E10, E17, E20.
- Additional £25 charge* for in person meetings in other post codes (TFL Zone 1 & 2 only).
*the charge covers the time of travel (usually 30 to 45 minutes return) and public transportation fee.
