About Tessa
My interest in architecture began with a fascination for how spaces influence emotion, movement, and daily life. This passion led me to complete a B.Arch in Architectural Design, where I developed strong foundations in spatial reasoning, design theory, and visual communication. Over 11 years of teaching, I have helped students translate abstract ideas into clear, expressive design solutions through patient guidance and structured exploration.
I believe architecture education should balance creativity with discipline. My teaching style focuses on encouraging experimentation while guiding students to refine ideas logically. I take time to understand each learner’s creative process and provide feedback that builds confidence without limiting originality. Students are supported in developing their own design voice.
Outside teaching, I remain engaged with architecture through sketching, design analysis, and studying contemporary architectural work. Teaching architecture is deeply fulfilling because I witness students gain confidence in expressing ideas visually. Supporting their creative and personal growth motivates me every day.

Architecture lessons are designed to help students understand how ideas transform into functional, meaningful spaces. I guide learners through architectural fundamentals such as spatial planning, form development, proportion, scale, material awareness, and basic structural logic. Lessons emphasise thinking through design rather than copying outcomes, helping students develop their own visual and conceptual language. Sketching, visual references, and design discussions are used to build clarity and confidence from the very beginning.
As learners progress, lessons expand into conceptual development, site response, circulation, environmental awareness, and presentation techniques. Beginners focus on observation, freehand sketching, and basic design exercises. Intermediate learners work on concept refinement, visual storytelling, and model-based thinking. Advanced learners receive guidance on project development, portfolio organisation, and design justification. Each lesson includes discussion, feedback, and refinement to strengthen creative discipline.
Learning architecture builds creativity, patience, and problem-solving ability. Students become more observant of their surroundings and more confident in expressing ideas visually. My goal is to help learners develop both imaginative freedom and structured thinking, allowing them to grow as thoughtful, confident designers.
