I am a design lecturer committed to prepare my students to the challenges of a fast evolving world and market by developing their critical thinking, technical and problem solving skills. I am competent in a range of CAD, rendering and graphic software commonly used in the industry including over a decade long experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp Pro and AdobeCS.
I held Adobe CS courses for interior design students and I currently teach SketchUp Pro and Layout in Higher National Certificate and Higher National Diploma courses.
I approach teaching by knowing my students first and by discussing the students' learning ability and preferred learning method, goals and aspirations. I design my classes embedding active learning techniques and real life scenarios, with particular attention to the needs of diverse learners.
Be curious, be practical, be respectful. Throughout my courses I strive to make my student understand and apply these simple principles. Being curious is the fuel that propels every designer and successful human being to progress and achieve excellent results, being practical is the engine that transforms creativity into concrete achievements and being a respectful individual, developing a virtuous ethics towards society and environment, is the destination of the journey.
I approach knowledge in an organic and holistic way, aiming to make the students understand that the interdependence of the several fields of design is paramount in the study of space. As a result of this approach, I put a particular effort in enhancing students’ oral and written communication skills together with presentation skills that will be crucial in the industry of tomorrow.
Overall, I believe I am a patient and demanding instructor capable of crafting my lectures around the students’ different learning ability, pushing them to believe in themselves and in their teammates and engaging their curiosity with honorable examples, professional tips and life skills in addition to theory. I love teaching and seeing my students to face and overcome the multiple challenges of design.
