About Gizem

I am an Architectural Designer working as a professional with 7 years of experience and a former University Lecturer with 7 years of teaching experience. I am an expert on CAD modelling (Rhinoceros, Revit, Grasshopper) and fabrication techniques such as 3D Printing.

About the lesson

My teaching method is hands-on practical exercises. Depending on student level of knowledge, I structure the course with some technical modelling exercises on different aspects of basic and complex modelling. By doing so students create models during the course. This provides the confidence for the student to start modelling right away after class.

Jemima is excellent an student with a good foundation skills in modelling. She was very perceptive and a quick-learner. She clearly defined which way she wanted to expand her knowledge and we crafted her sessions towards that. Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?
I was about 7 years old when I first used a computer. Back then they were so expensive so my first PC was a second-hand one. It belonged to an architect and had Autocad in it. I remember admiring the former owner and trying the use to dinosaur version of Autocad back in 1996.
What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?
Web3 is the biggest turning point I've been witnessing in my adult life and it looks like it will keep changing every aspect of our lives drastically. I'm excited about what's come.
Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.
A computer is a great tool that allows us to create more and connect if it is used right.There are so many different ways to use it and discover what else is possible. My expertise grew over the years with that curiosity and spirit of exploration.
Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?
They sure are very interesting people. I'm more inspired by storytellers, poets, artists who dare to show up as authentic as they are.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.
Once the Jury was giving a critique on our project. He said It will not be fair to give critique without knowing the whole story of the project by just looking at the outcome. That comment stayed with me for over 10 years now. The journey is what matters.
What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?
It is just a point of view they bought. I have seen so many students changing their min instantaneously once we start working together.
What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?
My passion is dancing, singing, and comedy.
What makes you a Superprof in IT?
Beyond my IT skills, I'm genuinely passionate about supporting people to achieve their goals. That is what's makes me a SuperProf.
