About Laura
Hey there, I’m Laura, a UK-based registered Architect (ARB) with 10+ years of experience designing and thinking about the built environment.
I’ve worked at award-winning London practice IF_DO, where I focused on socially-driven projects, and would love to tell you all about community engagement and co-design.
I studied at The Mackintosh School of Architecture, and spent time in both Paris (ENSAPB) and Porto (Universidade do Porto), which gave me a broader perspective on how architecture is taught, practised, and understood in different contexts.
Besides architecture, I am a freelance culture and lifestyle writer, love to travel and make a mean cup of coffee (the essentials, some would say!).

Hey there I’m Laura, a UK-based registered Architect (ARB) with 10+ years of experience designing and thinking about the built environment.
I’ve tutored and mentored students across all stages, from shaping early concepts through to technical detailing and software. My focus isn’t just on helping you produce work, but on helping you understand what you’re doing and why so your ideas become clearer, stronger, and easier to communicate.
Architecture is a broad subject, and there’s no single “right” way to approach it. Having worked and studied across four countries, I’ve been exposed to different standards, methods, and ways of thinking. I bring that perspective into sessions, but the goal is always to help you develop your own approach, not copy someone else’s!
Funnily enough, I know I’m doing my job well when you no longer need me, which is our main goal. That usually looks like you becoming more confident in your decisions (not second-guessing every move, not relying on constant feedback, and starting to trust your own judgement). If you can leave our sessions able to move forward independently, then I’ve done what I’m here to do!
Here are some things I can help you with:
1. Portfolio + CV review for job applications (Part I, Part II, Part III)
2. Software
3. Concept development/refinement (think of it as a design review!)
4. Model making, 3D printing, laser cutting
5. Essay writing, architectural history & philosophy
6. Presentation techniques/confidence
7. University applications, portfolio and interviewing
Recommendations
Recommendations are written by the tutor's friends, family, and acquaintances.
I worked with Laura during my final year when I was pretty stuck on my design project. I had a rough idea, but it wasn’t really landing and I didn’t know how to push it further or present it properly.
What I liked most is that she didn’t just give me answers — she helped me figure things out in a way that actually made sense. She’d ask questions that made me rethink what I was doing, and helped me strip the project back and focus on what actually mattered. She was also really helpful in figuring out what drawings and visuals I needed, instead of me trying to do everything and getting overwhelmed.
I remember one session where we basically reworked my whole concept, and it was the first time it properly clicked. After that, everything felt a lot clearer and way easier to develop.
Would definitely recommend her if you’re feeling stuck or overthinking your project, she’s really easy to talk to and genuinely helps you get to a better place with your work.See more recommendations
