About Angus

Angus is the Group General Counsel of a data and finance company, based in Brisbane. He has a broad practice base covering matters such as commercial, tax, corporate, financial services, property, privacy, trust, employment, and intellectual property law. This also includes blockchain technology solutions, providing advice regarding node infrastructure, early-stage venture capital, proprietary trading, and DAO structuring.

He was previously Corporate Counsel with an energy company in Tasmania. Where he was the lead counsel that advised the technology division, advising on complex commercial and legal negotiations with project teams, and executives on software development projects. He also advised on complex generation, transmission, and distribution agreements, in the renewable energy sector, such as wind farms and hydroelectricity projects.

He has extensive experience in the telecommunications sector through providing advice to data centre providers and on Australian Space Agency projects.

Prior to this, he worked at the Australian Taxation Office, across the complex debt recovery, litigation, securities, and policy teams.

About the lesson

In terms of teaching methodology, Angus utilizes the Socratic method which involves asking students questions to encourage critical thinking and problem-solving. He also incorporates problem exercises to help students understand the material in a practical way. During the lesson, he works through problem exercises with you. In addition, he reviews work you have completed, both during and outside of scheduled tutoring times.

His lessons typically last for one hour but can be adjusted to accommodate the needs of the student. He has several years of tutoring experience and has worked with high school and university students.

Angus holds all relevant qualifications including a Bachelor of Laws, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and a Master of Laws from the University of Queensland. He is also a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.

His lessons are suitable for high school and university students, both in-person and remotely. He teaches in Brisbane during weekends and outside of business hours to accommodate students' schedules.
