About Katherine
I am a UK-qualified (unregistered) barrister with an LL.B. in Law from the University of Warwick and an LL.M. in Public International Law from Seoul National University. I have also worked across the United Nations and UK Government, where research, critical analysis, clear writing and communication have been central to my work.
I have always enjoyed helping others make sense of complex ideas and express themselves with greater confidence. My academic and professional background means I am particularly well placed to support students with English Literature, essay writing, critical thinking, comprehension and academic writing.
I am patient, encouraging and approachable, and I understand that students often need different things from a tutor. Some need help developing confidence, others need support structuring essays or analysing texts, and others simply need someone to help them organise their ideas more clearly.
My aim is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, testing ideas and improving at their own pace.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual goals, level and learning style. I focus on helping students develop confidence, critical thinking and clear written expression, rather than simply giving them answers. We work together on how to approach a question, analyse a text, identify the strongest points, structure an argument and express ideas persuasively.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes and may include discussion, close reading, essay planning, writing exercises and detailed feedback on structure, analysis and style. I aim to make lessons engaging and practical, with techniques that students can apply independently to future work.
My lessons are suitable for GCSE and A-level students, university students, and adults who would like support with English Literature, essay writing, academic writing, critical thinking, comprehension or developing stronger written arguments.
